A شفيق shafīq (v.n. fr. شفق, see shafaqat), adj. & s.m. Affectionate, kind, tender, merciful, compassionate;—a kind and benevolent adviser, a kind friend (syn. mushfiq, q.v.).

شفق shafaq inf. n. of شفق 'to fear'; 'to be compassionate,' c.

A شفق shafaq (inf. n. of شفق 'to fear'; 'to be compassionate,' &c.), s.m. (f.?) Fear;—affection, kindness, &c.
