P ارام ārām [rt. Zend ram = S. रम्, with ā], s.m. Rest, repose, quiet, ease, relief, comfort, convenience; well-being; health; easy condition or circumstances, competency:—ārām pānā, To obtain ease, relief, comfort, &c.; to find rest, repose, &c.; to become quiet; to recover, get well:—ārām-pohuṅćānā (-ko) = ārām-denā, q.v.:—ārām ćāhnā, v.n. To desire repose, need rest:—ārām-dil, adj. Quiet or easy in mind:—ārām-denā (-ko), To give ease, afford relief; to ease, appease, assuage, relieve; to comfort, soothe, solace; to restore to health, cure, heal:—ārām-se, adv. With ease, easily; at (one's) ease, at leisure; comfortably, conveniently, without pain or anxiety:—ārām-t̤alab, adj. & s.m. Seeking (one's) ease, fond of ease; idle, indolent, lazy:—one who seeks his ease, a lover of ease; an indolent or lazy person:—ārām karnā, ārām lenā, v.n. To take rest; to recover from fatigue, &c.; to rest, repose, recline, lie down, sleep; to loll; to be idle; to live at ease or in enjoyment:—ārām karnā or kar-denā, v.t. To restore to health, cure, heal:—ārām-kursī, s.f. Easy chair:—ārām-gāh, ārām-gah, s.f. Resting-place; bed-chamber:—ārām lenā = ārām karnā, v.n.; q.v.:—ārām-wālā, adj. & s.m.=ārām-t̤alab, q.v.:—ārām-wālī, s.f. 1˚=ārām-wālā; 2˚ A source of ease and comfort, a wife:—ārām honā or ho-jānā, To derive ease, comfort, convenience, &c.
