P عرفه ʻarafa, vulg. ʻarfa (for A. عرفة, v.n. fr. عرف 'to know,' &c.), s.m. A vigil, wake (esp. that of the night preceding the ʻīduʼẓ-ẓuhạ̄, the ʻīduʼl-fit̤r, and the shab-barāt):—ʻarafa karnā, v.n. To keep a vigil, to offer oblations of sweetmeats, &c. on a day of vigil (at the tomb of a deceased relative).
