Learned men, the learned:—aṣḥāb-i-kibār, The great companions (of Moḥammad), the four Khalifs immediately succeeding Moḥammad:—aṣḥāb-i-guzīn, The chosen companions (of the Prophet)=aṣḥāb-i-kibār:—aṣḥāb-i-kahf, The companions of the Cave, the Seven Sleepers (famed in Oriental romance).
