A festival held, by Moḥammadans, on the tenth of the month ẕī-ḥijja, in commemoration of Abraham's readiness to sacrifice his son (Isaac, according to the Shīʻas, but Ishmael, according to the Mohammadans of the Sunnī sect. The Qorʼān, it may be observed, does not mention the name of the son:—syn. ʻīduʼẓ-ẓuḥā).
