H بالو बालू bālū, bālu, bārū [S. बालुका], s.f. Sand, gravel, grit:—bālū-burd, s.f. Arable land covered by a deposit of sand after an inundation, and so ruined;—remission of revenue on account of land so injured:—bālū-ćar, s.f. Land covered by a deposit of sand; sand-bank formed by a river-deposit:—bālū-sāhī, s.f. A kind of sweetmeat (so called from the sand-like appearance of the sugar sprinkled on it):—bālū-kī bhīt, s.f. lit. 'Wall of sand'; anything perishable or frail:—bālū-kī dawāt, s.f. Ink with sand thrown into it (in order that it may dry soon).
