H چلتي चलती ćaltī [ćal(nā)+Prk. अत्तिआ=S. आपि+ति+इका (आप्तिका)], s.f. Activity, briskness (of business, trade, &c.); access, reach; sphere of action, power, authority, influence, jurisdiction; competency;—land under cultivation (=ćaltī zamīn).

(f. -ī), Moving, in motion, going, passing, proceeding; movable (as a pulley, &c.); flowing, running (as a stream); running, current (as an account); current, in vogue (as speech, money, &c.); customary, ordinary, usual; in operation, in use; under cultivation (land); passable (as coin, &c.); saleable (as goods); active, busy, flourishing, thriving (as a shop or business); operating quickly, active, efficient, powerful, potent (as a medicine or charm); fast, quick, lively (music, &c.); passing, loose, vague (as speech):—ćalte-ćalte, adv. While going, on the way; gradually, by degrees:—ćaltī ćīz, s.f. Saleable goods, goods in brisk demand;—ćaltī dūkān, s.f. A thriving business:—ćaltā rakhnā, v.t. To keep going, keep up, continue, maintain; to prolong, protract, extend:—ćaltā kām, s.m. Work done hurriedly and carelessly, bad work; temporary work:—ćaltā karnā, v.t. To set in motion, set agoing, to start, to begin; to originate, to introduce; to make current, to issue, put forth, send out, despatch; to enable (one) to get on or along;—to set free, to send away, to discharge:—ćaltī kasr, s.f. A recurring decimal:—ćalte hāth -pāʼoṅ, adv. With the arms and legs in working condition, while the limbs are serviceable:—ćaltā-huʼā, adj. (f. -ī) = ćaltā; (also) sharp (as a knife, &c.):—ćaltā-huʼā auzār, s.m. A sharp tool or instrument; (fig.) a sharper, cheat, swindler:—ćaltā-huʼā purza, s.m. A sharper, &c. (=ćaltā-huʼā auzār):—ćaltā honā, v.n. To be in motion; to be in operation, &c. (see ćaltā); to be off, to go or run away (=ćal-denā); to be issued, be sent out; be despatched.

चलता ćaltā, चलिता ćalitā

H <چلتا/pa> चलता ćaltā, चलिता ćalitā, s.m. The tree Dillenia indica or D. speciosa (the fruit of which has an agreeable taste; the fleshy leaves of the calyx, which surround the ripe fruit, make a palatable jelly; the wood is used to make gun-stocks, helves, &c.).
