H چلاو चलाऊ ćalāʼū (ćalā(nā)+āʼū = āʼo, see next), adj. Moving, going, passing, shifting; shaky, unstable; mutable, fickle, inconstant; transitory, frail, perishable; passing away, dying;—that may be made to answer or do, that may serve as a make-shift;—durable, lasting.

To come on or down, to continue (from some past time), to be handed down:—ćalā jānā, v.n. To go away, depart, be off; to go on or along, to proceed, to continue; to last:—ćale jānā, ćale ćalnā, v.n. To go on, be going on, to keep moving or going, to keep on (a road, walk, &c.), to continue to be or to remain (on a course, or according to a rule).

چالا चाला ćālā

H چالا चाला ćālā [ćāl+S. कः], s.m. Motion; departure; an auspicious moment or day for setting out on a journey (there are different days for different quarters of the compass); the departure of a bride or wife for the home of her husband; the ceremony of the wife's going to and returning from her father's home shortly alter marriage (four such visits are made; see ćār-ćāle);—stratagem, trick; misfortune, calamity.
