فتوحي fatūḥī, vulg. fatoḥī prob. fr. A. fatūḥ, fr. fatḥ, 'opening'

P فتوحي fatūḥī, vulg. fatoḥī (prob. fr. A. fatūḥ, fr. fatḥ, 'opening'), s.f. A kind of jacket or vest without sleeves, a short waistcoat.

فتحه fatḥa for A. فتحة fatḥat, fr. fatḥ, q.v.

A prayer for good or for blessings; a marriage-prayer; marriage; blessings on the dead:—fātiḥa dilānā (-ke nām), To cause blessings to be invoked (upon a deceased relative; this is done by having the opening chapter of the Qorʼān read over the deceased for forty days after his death, and distributing alms and food):—fātiḥa denā (-ke nām), To invoke blessings (on a deceased relative; see fātiḥa dilānā); to make offerings to saints with prayers.
