(f. -ī), Thick (as cloth, &c., or a fluid mixture of any kind), close, dense, gross; muddy, turbid; close, intimate (friendship); deep (sleep, colour, &c.); stout, substantial; strong (infusion, &c.); stiff, difficult, arduous; sturdy, compact; bold, undaunted, valiant (in fight); sly, shrewd, knowing, wise, proficient, adept, smart;—s.m. A kind of coarse, thick cloth.
