Less; inferior; abated; defective:—ghāṭ-bāṭ, s.f. The path or road to a ghāṭ:—ghāṭ-bārī, s.f. Lands attached to a ferry;—the duty or toll levied at a landing-place or a mountain-pass:—ghāṭ tolnā (-ko), To diminish in weight; to make the weight (of a thing) appear less than it is:—ghāṭ-kaptān, s.m. Master-attendant at a sea-port; harbour-master:—ghāṭ-mār, or ghāṭ-mārā, s.m. One who evades payment of a toll or duty; a smuggler:—ghāṭ-mārā, s.m. Proper or suitable time or period (for a work or action), opportune moment, opportunity;—design, intention, aim;—cover, concealment, ambush, ambuscade, trap, snare; enmity, treachery:—ghāt tāknā (-kī), To watch an opportunity (for):—ghāt karnā (-kī), or ghāt-meṅ baiṭhnā or rahnā (-kī), To watch for an opportunity (against); to lie in wait or ambush (for); to waylay:—ishāroṅ-kī ghāteṅ, Silent or quiet aim.
