H flight of stone steps or an incline leading to water; a masonry embankment on the side of a river, &c.; a landing-place or ferry (of a river, &c.) or a pass where tolls or customs are collected;—a pass or difficult passage over a hill or hills, a defile (=ghāṭī);—a falling short, failure, want; abatement, reduction; loss, detriment; failing, short-coming, offence;—curve (in the blade of a sword);—adj. Less; inferior; abated; defective:—ghāṭ-bāṭ, s.f. The path or road to a ghāṭ:—ghāṭ-bārī, s.f. Lands attached to a ferry;—the duty or toll levied at a landing-place or a mountain-pass:—ghāṭ tolnā (-ko), To diminish in weight; to make the weight (of a thing) appear less than it is:—ghāṭ-kaptān, s.m.
