A knot; knob; node; a joint, knuckle; an articulation; a division (one-sixteenth) of a gaz or yard, three finger-breadths; a purse; a gland; a kernel; (fig.) an entanglement, a difficulty; impediment (in speech); prejudice; misunderstanding, dissension (syn. gāṅṭh):—girěh bāṅdhnā (-meṅ), To tie a knot (in a handkerchief, &c. as a reminder), (hence), to remember, to bear in mind:—girěh paṛnā (-meṅ), A knot, or entanglement to take place; a difficulty to arise; dissension or misunderstanding to take place (between two people):—girěh-dār, adj.
