P غوطه g̠ot̤a (prob. for A. غوطة g̠aut̤at, n. of un. fr. g̠aut̤; see g̠ot̤), s.m. Diving, plunging (into); dipping, immersion; a plunge (into water), a dive, a dip:—g̠ot̤a-bāz, s.m. A diver:—g̠ot̤a-ḵẖor, vulg. g̠ot̤e-ḵẖor, s.m. A diver;—anything that dips or is dipped; a sort of fire-work (so called because, being lighted, it is thrown into water, when it dives, and every now and then shows above water):—g̠ot̤a-ḵẖẉurd, or g̠ot̤a-ḵẖẉurda, part. adj. P گيتي getī, or gītī [old P. gaitha; Pehl. gehān; Zend gaêtha, fr. gi; see jahān], s.f. The world, the universe:—gītī-ārāʼe, adj. & s.m. World-adorning;—the ornament of mankind:—gītī-afroz, or gītī-faroz, adj. World-inflaming; world-illumining; an epithet of the sun:—gītī-sitān, s.m. Conqueror (or emperor) of the world:—gītī-naward, adj. & s.m. Who (or one who) has travelled over the world;—the sun;—an epithet of Alexander the Great.

H گوٿا गोटा goṭā [goṭ = S. कोटि+कः], s.m. Edging; gold or silver lace (rather narrow); a narrow fillet of brocade; a preparation of coriander seeds, cocoa-nut, cardamoms, and coffee, &c. (in this sense perhaps from Prk. goṭṭha; S. goshṭha):—goṭā-kinārī, s.f. Edging of gold or silver lace:—goṭā-wālā, s.m. A maker (or a seller) of edging, lace, braid, &c.
