H گلال गुलाल gulāl [prob. fr. S. गुण्डः], s.m. The red powder thrown about by the Hindūs in the Holī festival (it is generally the meal of rice, or barley, or siṅghāṛā dyed red with baqam wood, &c.):—gulāl uṛānā, or gulāl pheṅknā, To throw gulāl about, or upon one another:—gulāl-bāṛā, s.m., or gulāl-bāṛī, s.f. A royal pavilion (or place) for recreation; a garden adjoining a palace:—gulāl-tulsī, s.f. The plant Ocymum basilicum:—gulāl-ćashm, adj. Reddish-eyed.
