H گوتهہ गूथ gūth [Prk. गुत्थं; S. ग्रथितं; or v.n. of gūthnā, q.v.], s.m. A round ball (of cotton, &c.); a string or thread (of anything).

H گٿهہ गठ gaṭh, contrac. of gāṅṭh, q.v. (used as first member of compounds):—gaṭh-bandh, adj. Entered into agreement or compact, united, leagued

together, confederated, &c.:—gaṭh-bandh ćorī, s.f. Gang-robbery:—gaṭh-bandhan, s.m. Tying the knot (a ceremony attending a Hindū marriage, in which the skirts or mantles of the bride and bridegroom are fastened together; and, thus united, they form part of a procession to some river or piece of water):—gaṭh-jorā, adj. Coupled, joined, united;—s.m. Joining or tying the knot (=gaṭh-bandhan, q.v.):—gaṭh-joṛā bāṅdhnā (-kā), To tie together the skirts or mantles of the bride and bridegroom (a ceremony attending marriage performed by the purohit or officiating priest):—gaṭh-kaṭā, s.m. (f. -ī), A cut-purse, a pick-pocket; one who cuts open parcels:—gaṭh-kaṭāʼī, or gaṭh-kaṭī, s.f. Purse-cutting, pocket-picking, theft, the practice of a cut-purse.
