A حمائل ḥamāʼil (pl. of حمالة ḥimālat or حميلة ḥamīlat, rt. حمل 'to bear or carry'), s.f. Suspensory thong, or cord, or shoulder-belt (of a sword, &c.);—a necklace of flowers or of rupees;—a small Qǒrʼān suspended to the neck (as an amulet):—ḥamāʼil karnā, v.t. To sling across the shoulders (as a sword, or gun, &c.).
