هون हूं hūṅ

H هون हूं hūṅ [Prk. हुं; S. हुम् or हूम्], adv. Yes, well, very well; exactly; proceed;—humph;—avaunt! away! begone! down with him!—a mystical syllable (of frequent occurrence in spells and incantations):—hūṅ karnā, To say 'yes,' to assent (to);—to utter a 'humph';—to urge a camel (by uttering the sound hūṅ):—hūṅ-hāṅ, s.f. Haw, yes; humming and hawing;—the first lisping or prattle (of a child):—hūṅ-hāṅ karnā, To hum and haw;—to begin to speak or lisp (a child):—hūṅ-hūṅ, intj. Hollo there! hold! avaunt! be off!—the sound uttered by pālkī-bearers when at work.

(dialec.) Yes, aye (i.q. hāṅ, q.v.).

Servile or obsequious assent (to everything), obsequiousness:—hāṅ-jī karnā, or hāṅ-jī hāṅ-jī karnā, To say 'yes' (to everything), to approve and assent to with obsequiousness or adulation:—hāṅ kahnā, To say 'yes,' to assent, agree, to yield:—hāṅ-meṅ hāṅ milānā = hāṅ-jī hāṅ-jī karnā:—hāṅ-hāṅ, adv. Yes, yes; yes to be sure, &c.:—hāṅ-hāṅ karnā, or hāṅ-hūṅ (or hūṅ-hāṅ) karnā, To say 'yes, yes';—to hum and haw:—hāṅ-hī, adv. (emphatic) Yes, yes indeed, yea verily.
