A جد jadd, vulg. jad, s.m. Fortune, good fortune; riches, competence, prosperity, happiness;—greatness, majesty, dignity, glory (of God);—a grandfather, an ancestor (pl. ajdād).

A ضد ẓidd, vulg. ẓid (v.n. fr. ضدّ 'to overcome,' &c.), s.f.
