The regent of the infernal regions, and the judge of departed souls, the Pluto of the Hindūs; the angel of death; (met.) anything disagreeable or intolerable; one of a pair or couple:—jam-diwārī, s.m.=jam-diyā, q.v.:—jam-dūt, s.m.
