[for kalgā, kalgī; prob. = S. कलश, कलशी, by change of ś to k, and then to g̠;—P. kalakī], A spire or ornament on the top of a dome; pinnacle; crest; comb (of a cock); the cockscomb, Amaranthus; an aigrette, a plume; a gem-studded ornament fixed in the turban (usually with the feathers of the humā or phœnix):—(kalg̠ī) a description of amorous song (called lāʼonī, in which the woman courts and woos the man):—kalg̠ī-bāz, or kalg̠ī-wālā, s.m. A composer or singer of the kalg̠ī or lāʼonī songs.
