لوٿا लोटा loṭā

H لوٿا लोटा loṭā [loṭa, rt. of loṭnā, q.v.+S. कः], s.m. A small, round, metal pot (for general use; it is generally made of brass or copper, but the name is sometimes applied to an earthen pot):—loṭā uṭhānā, 'To take up a (or the) loṭā'; to perform menial services (for):—loṭe-meṅ namak (or non) ḍālnā, 'To put salt into the lotā'; to bind oneself by an oath taken on a loṭā of water into which salt is thrown (uttering the words baćan-se phire non-sā ghule, 'may he who turns from his word melt away like salt').
