A مصالح maṣālěḥ, vulg. maṣālaḥ, and masālā, s.m. (pl. of maṣlaḥat, q.v.), lit. 'Things for the good of; or things or affairs conducive to good'; affairs;—employments, occupations;—honour, glory;—materials, ingredients, necessaries (as for cooking, building, &c.); spicery, spices; condiments, seasoning; drug or drugs; materials used to give a finish to a garment, &c.; edging, hem, border; gold or silver lace;—maṣālěḥ-dār, vulg. masāle-dār, adj. & s.m. Seasoned with spices;—bound or edged with lace, &c.;—cloth worked over, or edged, with gold or silver lace, &c.;—one who supplies materials (for a building, &c.):—maṣālěḥ denā, or maṣālěḥ ḍālnā (-meṅ), To put condiments or seasoning (into), to season.
