نماز namāz
P نماز namāz [old P. namāzh; Pehl. nemāj; Zend nemaṅh; S. नमस्], s.f. Prayer (esp. the prayers prescribed by the Muhammadan law, which are said five times a day); adoration, worship, divine service:—namāz paṛhnā, or namāz karnā, To say (one's) prayers, to pray:—namāz-guẕār, adj. & s.m. Saying (or offering up) prayer, praying; attending divine service;—one who prays:—janāze-kī namāz, or namāz-ě-janāza, The funeral service of the Muhammadans:—namāz-gāh, s.f. A place of prayer; the place in a mosque where prayers are read.
