H نيا नया nayā [Prk. नवओ; S. नवकः], adj. (f. naʼī), New, fresh, novel; recent; modern;—strange:—nayā-purānā honā or ho-jānā, v.n. To cease to be new or strange; to become old or stale;—to lose the zest of novelty:—nayā-phal, s.m. Early fruits, first-fruits (of anything):—nayā-janam, s.m. New birth;—(in Theol.) regeneration:—nayā karnā, v.t. To make new; to renew; renovate; restore;—to eat the first-fruits of;—to taste for the first time;—to burn (cloth, &c.,—a euphemistic expression used by women instead of jalānā, or jal-jānā):—naye-panj, adj. Under five years old, rising five (a horse):—naʼī jawānī, s.f. Budding youth:—naye-sir, or naʼe-sir, or naye-sir-se, or naʼe-sire-se, adv. From the beginning;—over again; anew, afresh, de novo (syn. az sar-ě-nau);—naʼe-sire-se janam lenā, v.n. To be born again;—to obtain a new lease of life.
