H آٿهہ आठ āṭh [S. अष्ट], = H اٿهہ अठ aṭh (used in compn. for āṭh) num. adj. Eight:—āṭh-aṭhārah, adj. In a state of confusion, disordered, scattered, dispersed (=tīn-terah); perplexed, disturbed, distressed:—āṭh-āṭh āṅsū ronā, To shed floods of tears, to weep exceedingly or bitterly:—āṭh-āṭh āṅsū rulānā, v.t. To cause (one) to weep bitterly, &c.:—āṭh-ānī, s.f.=aṭh-annī, q.v. below:—āṭh-pahar (and āṭhoṅ-pahar), adv. Through or during the eight watches of the day, throughout the twenty-four hours, day and night; constantly, perpetually, always:—aṭh- (or āṭh-) pahrī, aṭh-pahriyā, s.m. An eight-watch man, one who is constantly on duty (as a man set to watch crops, &c.):—aṭh- (or āṭh-) konī, adj. & s.m. Octangular;—any eight-cornered thing:—aṭh- (or āṭh-) khambā, s.m. A canopy or any structure supported by eight posts or pillars:—aṭh-mās, aṭh-māsā, aṭh-wāṅsā (S. ashṭa+māsa, or māsaka), s.m. Land constantly ploughed for sugar-cane for the eight months from Asāṛh to Māgh inclusive:—aṭh-māshī, s.f. A weight of eight māshas; a gold mohur weighing eight māshas (value ten rupees):—aṭh-annī (i.e. āṭh+āna+ī), s.f. A silver coin worth eight annas, an eight-anna piece, a half-rupee:—aṭh-wārā (S. ashṭa+vāra+ka), s.m. The eighth day after any other day; a period of eight days; a week; the use, or loan, of a thing for a period of eight days:—aṭhotar-sau (S. ashṭa+uttara+śata), adj. One hundred and eight:—āṭhoṅ, coll. s. & adj. All eight, the whole eight, the eight:—āṭhoṅ-pahar = āṭh-pahar, q.v. above:—āṭhoṅ-jām (jām = S. yām) = āṭhoṅ-pahar.
