H پيسا पैसा paisā [i.e. pāʼī or pāʼi+sā; S. पाद+इका+सदृशकः], s.m. A copper coin, a pice (the fourth part of an ānā; in value about a farthing and a half);—money, cash, wealth, riches, fortune:—paisā uṛānā (-kā), To spend money extravagantly;—to make away with the money (of another); to take the money (of another) by theft or deceit:—paisā pher-phār karnā, v.n. To turn the penny:—paisā ḍubonā, v.n. To sink money, to lay out money without return:—paisā ḍūbnā, v.n. Money to be sunk or lost:—paisā khānā (-kā), To spend extravagantly, to waste;—to subsist by wages or the produce (of labour);—to embezzle; to take bribes:—paise lagānā (meṅ), To lay out or expend money (upon):—paise-wālā, adj. & s.m. Moneyed, wealthy;—worth one paisā;—a moneyed man.
