P ريسمان resmān [res or rīs, fr. ristan, 'to spin,' &c., rt. Zend rīć = S. रिच्+mān = Zend man = S. मन्; cf. S. रश्मन्], s.f. String, cord, thread, rope (=rassī, q.v.).

P دشمن dushman [Zend dusmainyu, i.e. dush+m˚; S. dush+manyu], s.m. Enemy, foe, adversary (in polite speech the word is frequently used euphemistically in a peculiar manner, e.g. āp-ke dushmanoṅ-kī tabʻīyat kab-se ʻalīl hai, 'How long have your foes been indisposed?' but implying, 'Since when have you (or has your honour) been indisposed?'):—dushman-ě-jān or jānī, A mortal enemy:—dushman-ě-dilī, An enemy at heart:—dushman-ě-ẕātī, A natural foe:—dushman-kām, s.m. 'A foe's wish'; misfortune, calamity:—dushman-kushī, s.f. Killing of an enemy:—dushman-gudāz, s.m. Dissolver or destroyer of enemies:—jānī dushman = dushman-ě-jānī:—ʻaql-kā dushman, s.m. 'Foe of knowledge,' a stupid person, a fool.
