A سحبان saḥbān, s.m. Name of a celebrated Arabian orator.

A شعبان shaʻbān (v.n. fr. تشعّب, 'to be separated,' v of شعب 'to separate'), s.m. The eighth month of the Arabian year (the 14th day of this month is the festival called barāt or shab-barāt; on this day an angel is supposed to examine a record on which is written the names of the living).
