P ترين tarīn (see tar); an affix, the termination of the superlative degree in Persian (corresponding to the English termination -est, or the adverb 'most,' e.g. ḵẖūb-tarīn, 'fairest, most beautiful').

P ترين tarīn [tar, q.v.; īn = Zend aêna = S. इन्], adj. Moist, fresh, &c. (=tar, q.v.).

توران tūrān

P توران tūrān [Pehl. turān; Zend tūra, fr. taurv = S. तुर्व; cf. तुरुष्क], prop. n. The name of the country to the north-east of Persia, generally called Transoxiana, Tartary, Turcomania, Turkestan.
