تمہيد tamhīd

A تمہيد tamhīd [inf. n. ii of مہد 'to spread equally'], s.f. Arranging, disposing; arrangement, disposition, adjustment, settlement, management; confirmation; preliminary, preamble, introduction, preface, preparative; pleading an excuse:—tamhīd uṭhānā, v.n. To take up, or to open (a subject); to premise:—tamhīd karnā (-kī), To make an arrangement or disposition (of), to dispose, &c.; to premise:—tamhīdeṅ baṅdhnā, v.n. To lay down premises; to frame vain suppositions beforehand, to make idle and shuffling excuses;—tamhīdeṅ bāṅdhā karnā, To go on premising; to continue making vain suppositions, &c.
