P علو ʻulū (for A. ʻuluwwuṇ, inf. n. of علو 'to be high,' &c.), s.m. Highness, eminence, sublimity; an eminence, a height.

A اولو ulū (pl. of ذو ẕū: acc. ulī), adj. Possessors, owners; possessed of, endowed with, possessing, having: (N.B. The first و in ulū is short, being merely scriptio plma; and hence the word is often written الو ulū;—it occurs, in Urdū, only in comp. e.g.):—uluʼl-albāb, Persons of understanding:—uluʼl-amr, Possessor, of command or authority:—uluʼl-ʻazm, Enterprising, ambitious; daring, determined, resolute; the enterprising, the ambitious; uluʼl-azmī, s.f. Determination, resoluteness; ambition:—uliʼl-abṣār, Possessed of discernment, discerning, wise, discreet; the discerning, &c.:—uliʼl-ajniḥa, Possessed of wings; winged animals:—uliʼl-ʻazm = uluʼl-ʻazm, q.v.:—uliʼl-ʻilm, Possessed of science, learned; the learned.

P آلو ālū [=S. आलु], s.m. Plum, prune:—(in Urdū the word generally occurs in comp. e.g.) ālū-buḵẖārā, s.m. Buḵẖārā or Persian plum; dried plum; prune; damson:—shaft-ālū, s.m. A peach, lit. 'the rough plum.'
