P عمدت ʻumdat (for A. عمدة; see ʻumda), s.f. A stay, prop, support, pillar (=ʻumda, ʻimād, ʻamūd):—ʻumdatuʼl-ḵẖāṣ, A prime minister:—ʻumdatuʼl-mulk, 'Pillar of state,' a title bestowed on officers of high rank.
