A pension, stipend, salary, pay or allowance (of a soldier, &c.); an exhibition, a scholarship;—allowance of provisions, commons (by the day, month, or year);—land bestowed in gift (for past services);—anything stipulated or agreed upon;—a task, daily performance; religious duty, daily worship (of a Muḥammadan);—employment, post, office;—use, purpose:—waz̤īfa paṛhnā, To read or repeat (one's) daily prayers:—waz̤īfa-ḵẖẉur, or waz̤īfa-ḵẖẉār, or waz̤īfa-dār, s.m. A pensioner; stipendiary;—an exhibitioner, a scholar, scholarship-holder:—waz̤īfa-ě-sālāna, s.m. Yearly allowance; an annuity.
