Being master of, possessing, governing, controlling, &c.;—possession, control, government, jurisdiction, dominion, sovereignty, power, authority; guardianship (of a minor);—dominion, realm, province, government; an inhabited country, a region; a foreign country (in India usually applied to England, Europe, China, Persia, &c.);—friendship; union (esp. with the Deity); sanctity;—the office or dignity of a walī or saint, sainthood, saintship;—prophecy:—wilāyat pānā, To attain to the rank or dignity of a saint:—wilāyat-zā, adj.
