A ظاهر z̤āhir (act. part. of ظہر 'to appear,' &c.), adj. & s.m. Outward, exterior, external, extrinsic, exoteric; appearing, apparent, overt, open, perceptible, visible, perceived, plain, evident, manifest, conspicuous, ostensible;—the outside, the external appearance; the external, or outward, or extrinsic state, or condition, or circumstances (of, -kā); the outward, or apparent, character, or disposition of the mind:—z̤āhir-bīn, s.m. One who looks only to the exterior:—z̤āhir-parast, adj. & s.m. Minding the outside or exterior, &c.;—a superficial observer; one who is influenced by outward show; one who takes things for what they seem:—z̤āhir-pīr, s.m. The head or chief of the caste of ḥalāl-ḵẖor, q.v.:—z̤āhir-dār, adj. Specious, plausible, showy, ostentatious; pretentious; ceremonious, formal:—z̤āhir-dārī, s.f. Outwardly and inwardly; inside and out:—z̤āhir honā, or ho-jānā, v.n. To be or become apparent or visible; to become manifest (from, -se), to be clearly shown (by), to appear, to become public, to become evident or known (to, -par), to be disclosed, be divulged, be revealed.
