Hina Rizvi Haider is an Urdu poet from Lucknow. Born and raised in the city of Lucknow, where Urdu literature has been the cultural center, Urdu language is celebrated and the city has contributed immensely to Urdu literature. For Hina, as a child, it was impossible not to be influenced by the literary fabric that was wrapped around her, with her father working for the Urdu Academy,Lucknow and mother a lecturer holding a PhD in Urdu Literature. A post graduate in Political Science, Hina has also inherited poetry from her maternal grandfather Chaudhary Itrat Husain, ‘Aashiqui’, a quite renowned and ‘sahib-e-diwan’ poet. Hina’s genre is quite versatile and she writes on topics varying from love to politics to social issues. She has recently published a collection of her poems in a book called ‘Rang-e-Hina’. Locally, she is regularly invited to TV and Radio (including All India Radio) channels for poetry recitations. Now she is all set to spread her wings and seeks wider exposure through great platforms like Rekhta for the servants of Urdu like her.
