Profile of Dr. Nadim Ahmad
Dr. Nadim Ahmad is currently working as Professor in the Department of Urdu, Jamia Millia Islamia. He joined Jamia Millia Islamia on July 16, 2004 as an Assistant Professor. Before joining JMI, he has been teaching in the Department of Urdu, University of Delhi, Kirori Mal College and Satyawati College, University of Delhi, where he taught UG & PG level courses. His areas of specialization are Modern Poetry, Fiction and Criticism. He completed his Masters, M.Phil and Ph.D from the Department of Urdu, University of Delhi. The topic of his research was “A Critical Study of Urdu Long Poems in 20th Century (Excluding Narrative Poems)”. A Major Research Project entitled “Socio- Cultural Perspective of Long Poems in Urdu & Hindi: A Comparative Study” was granted to him by the University Grant Commission in the year 2011, which is completed successfully. Dr. Nadim Ahmad has many important books to his credit. It includes, Taraqqi Pasandi, Jadeediyat, Ma’bad Jadidiyat, Taabeer-o-Tafheem, Urdu Shairy Mein Hindustani Tahzeeb-oSaqafat, Tagore Aur Iqbal and Tazkeer o Tahleel. He has also translated a book “Zaheeruddin Mohammad Babur: Person, Personality & Poetry” from Urdu into Hindi Language. He has written almost 70 research articles in different Magazines & Journals of repute. In addition to his current position as a Professor in the Department of Urdu, Jamia Millia Islamia, he had carried multiple responsibilities of the University like Nodal Officer, Warden, Sr. Warden and Coordinator, Student Placement Cell, Member Tagore Research and Translation Scheme, Member DRS phase II & III etc. Dr. Nadim Ahmad received a few significant awards and medals during his academic career which includes Dr.S.Radha Krishnan Gold Medal, Prof. Khwaja Ahmad Farooqi Gold Medal, Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Award and Delhi Urdu Academy Award for his Book Tazkeer o Tahleel etc.
