About The Book

About The Author

Adeel Zaidi belongs to a distinguished family known for its rich intellectual and literary traditions. He was born on July 6, 1958, in Sukkur, in the province of Sindh. His father, Professor Syed Akhtar Raza Zaidi, a professor of history, possessed a deep and vibrant scholarly and literary temperament. His notable works include A Short History of Civilization, Geometry Made Easy, The Rise and Fall of the Caliphate, and Aina-e-Tarikh-e-Islam aur Ali (Mirror of History - Biography of Imam Ali). In addition to his poetry collection Bayaz-e-Akhtar, his compilation of elegiac poetry—comprising noha, salaam, and manqabat—was published under the title Kaleem-e-Karbala in 1943. Adeel Zaidi’s elder brother, Syed Urooj Akhtar Zaidi, was likewise a respected poet in the Urdu literary tradition.

Adeel Zaidi’s poetic sensibility began to emerge at the age of seven, and his love for the Urdu language became so deeply rooted that even the unfamiliar winds of a foreign land could not diminish it. He has been residing in the United States since 1977. His academic training is in Industrial Engineering and Industrial Management. Over the course of nearly twenty-five years, he worked with several companies in Germany and the United States. He later founded his own company, BullseyeEngagement, where he has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for approximately eighteen years.

To date, four collections of his poetry have appeared in print: Chalte Chalte (1998), Kahan Aa Gaye Hum (2008), Azan-e-Majlis (published in Pakistan in 2009 and later in India in 2021 by Ibarat Publications, Delhi), and Qarz-e-Jaan (first published in 2021 and a second edition in 2024 by Ibarat Publications, Delhi, followed by a 2025 edition by Al-Hamd Publications, Lahore).

Among the important works edited and prepared for publication by Adeel Zaidi are Josh Malihabadi’s final poetry collection Mahmil-o-Jaras and his prose collection Fikr-o-Zikr; Jaun Elia’s unpublished collection Kyon; Ubaidullah Aleem’s poetry collection Ek Zamana Khwab Ka; and Krishna Bihari Noor’s collected works "Man Murshid" (Kulliat).

Adeel Zaidi represents a multifaceted literary and intellectual personality. A book titled "Kitne Manzar" has also been published, exploring the many illuminating dimensions of his life, personality, and literary contributions. This book is a compilation of articles and speeches about his literary work.

“Guftagu"- Adeel Zaidi ke Saath is a collection of interviews with prominent figures from the worlds of literature and scholarship. Through these conversations, readers are offered not only a glimpse into the cultural, social, and intellectual landscape of the contemporary era but also a meaningful engagement with the diverse ideas, perspectives, and intellectual trends that shape modern literary discourse.
