Ibrahim Ashk was born on July 20, 1951, at Ujjain in the state of Madhya Pradesh. He received his early education in Ujjain and went on to get his M. A. degree in Hindi. He is remarkable for his acute creativity and has made his contribution to various poetical forms. He published several volumes of his poetry. Among these, Ilhaam and Aagahi are much better known than others. He also wrote literary criticism. His works on Iqbal and Ghalib bear ample testimony to his critical acumen. Ashk is also well known as a lyricist, and script writer of some well-known films and TV serials. He also released several albums of his ghazals.
