Ghalib Academy is an educational, cultural, and research institution founded in 1969 by Hakeem Abdul Hameed in memory of Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib. It was inaugurated on 22 February 1969 by the then President of India, Dr. Zakir Husain, during the Ghalib Centenary celebrations. The Academy is located in Nizamuddin Basti, Delhi, near the shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya and the mausoleum of Mirza Ghalib.

The Academy was established to preserve, promote, and disseminate the literary legacy of Ghalib, the intellectual and cultural heritage of his era, and the rich traditions of the Urdu language. Its facilities include the Ghalib Museum, Research Library, Art Gallery, Auditorium, Research Department, Publication Centre, and a Computerized Calligraphy Training Centre established in collaboration with the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL).

The Academy's research library houses a rich collection of rare books, manuscripts, and reference works relating to Ghalib, his age, and Urdu literature. It serves scholars, writers, poets, students, and researchers from India and abroad. Its scholarly publications are regarded as valuable contributions to Urdu studies, while several reference works preserved in the library are unavailable elsewhere.

Ghalib Academy regularly organizes seminars, mushairas, workshops, literary gatherings, exhibitions, and cultural programmes dedicated to Ghalib and other eminent Urdu personalities. For more than five decades, the Academy has played a significant role in promoting Urdu language, literary research, cultural heritage, and national integration. A selected portion of its valuable collection is now available through the Rekhta Digital Library, enabling readers and researchers worldwide to access its rich literary resources.
