    chuur the log jo sañgīnī-e-hijrat se yahāñ

    saañs bhī aatā nahīñ un ko suhulat se yahāñ

    vo kisī phuul kisī ġhunche ke haqdār nahīñ

    dasht gulzār banāte haiñ jo mehnat se yahāñ

    choġhā pahnāyā gayā jhuuT sachchā.ī ko

    aur ma.ānī liye nafrat ke mohabbat se yahāñ

    ham ne buniyād rakhī zahr-bujhe sajdoñ

    teġh kaam liyā ham ne ibādat se yahāñ

    haath hālāt ne Daale haiñ garebānoñ meñ

    zindagī kaise guzāre koī izzat se yahāñ

    peT pe bāñdhā gayā sabr bhārī patthar

    aur guzārā gayā har lamha mashaqqat se yahāñ

    sāhab-e-mimbar-o-mehrāb bhī kyā bhūkā hai

    peT aag bujhātā hai sharī.at se yahāñ

    saañs chubhtā rahā kāñTe tarah dil meñ 'nabīl'

    jism Dhalte rahe chhāloñ meñ aziyyat se yahāñ

    sans bhi aata nahin un ko suhulat se yahan

    wo kisi phul kisi ghunche ke haqdar nahin

    dasht gulzar banate hain jo mehnat se yahan

    chogha pahnaya gaya jhuT ka sachchai ko

    aur maani liye nafrat ke mohabbat se yahan

    hum ne buniyaad rakhi zahr-bujhe sajdon ki

    tegh ka kaam liya hum ne ibaadat se yahan

    hath haalat ne Dale hain garebanon mein

    zindagi kaise guzare koi izzat se yahan

    peT pe bandha gaya sabr ka bhaari patthar

    aur guzara gaya har lamha mashaqqat se yahan

    sahab-e-mimbar-o-mehrab bhi kya bhuka hai

    peT ki aag bujhata hai shariat se yahan

    sans chubhta raha kanTe ki tarah dil mein 'nabil'

    jism Dhalte rahe chhaalon mein aziyyat se yahan
