रोचक तथ्य
Abū al-ʿAlāʾ al-Maʿarrī was a famous Arabic poet. He was born in 973 and died in 1057. He was one of the most prominent thinkers and philosophers of his time. It is also believed that he did not eat meat.
कहते हैं कभी गोश्त न खाता था म'अर्री
फल-फूल पे करता था हमेशा गुज़र-औक़ात
इक दोस्त ने भूना हुआ तीतर उसे भेजा
शायद कि वो शातिर इसी तरकीब से हो मात
ये ख़्वान-ए-तर-ओ-ताज़ा म'अर्री ने जो देखा
कहने लगा वो साहिब-ए-गुफ़रान-ओ-लुज़ूमात
ऐ मुर्ग़क-ए-बेचारा ज़रा ये तो बता तू
तेरा वो गुनह क्या था ये है जिस की मुकाफ़ात?
अफ़्सोस-सद-अफ़्सोस कि शाहीं न बना तू
देखे न तिरी आँख ने फ़ितरत के इशारात!
तक़दीर के क़ाज़ी का ये फ़तवा है अज़ल से
है जुर्म-ए-ज़ईफ़ी की सज़ा मर्ग-ए-मुफ़ाजात!
