bahkī bahkī sī bāteñ kartā thā
āñkheñ kānoñ pe rakh ke suntā thā
gūñgī ḳhāmoshiyoñ kī āvāzeñ!
jam.a kartā thā chāñd ke saa.e
giilī giilī sī nuur kī būñdeñ
ok meñ bhar ke khaḌkhaḌātā thā
rūkhe rūkhe se raat ke patte
vaqt ke is ghanere jañgal meñ
kachche pakke se lamhe chuntā thā
haañ, vahī, vo ajiib sā shā.er
raat ko uTh ke kuhniyoñ ke bal
chāñd kī ThoḌī chūmā kartā hai!!
chāñd se gir ke mar gayā hai vo
log kahte haiñ ḳhud-kushī kī hai
wo jo shaer tha, chup sa rahta tha
bahki bahki si baaten karta tha
aankhen kanon pe rakh ke sunta tha
gungi KHamoshiyon ki aawazen!
jama karta tha chand ke sae
gili gili si nur ki bunden
ok mein bhar ke khaDkhaData tha
rukhe rukhe se raat ke patte
waqt ke is ghanere jangal mein
kachche pakke se lamhe chunta tha
han, wahi, wo ajib sa shaer
raat ko uTh ke kuhniyon ke bal
chand ki ThoDi chuma karta hai!!
chand se gir ke mar gaya hai wo
log kahte hain KHud-kushi ki hai
