Identity: Professor Kausar Mazhari (real name: Muhammad Ehsan-ul-Haq) is a distinguished writer, researcher, and critic. He was born on 5 August 1964 in the village of Chandan Bara, East Champaran district, Bihar. He received his early education at a government school in his village and completed his matriculation from Maulana Azad High School, Khairawa. He later graduated in 1984 from M.S. College, Motihari, with Honours in Botany and subsidiary subjects in Zoology and Chemistry.

From childhood, he had a deep interest in literature. His passion for Urdu poetry drew him towards language and literary studies. He completed his graduation in Urdu and earned his M.A. from Patna University. Later, he pursued his Ph.D. at Jamia Millia Islamia under the supervision of Professor Shamim Hanfi.

In 1997, he joined the Department of Urdu at Jamia Millia Islamia and was appointed permanently in 1998. He is currently serving as a Professor. His main areas of specialization are Urdu Nazm and literary criticism.

His notable works include Jawaz-o-Intekhab, Jadeed Nazm: Hali se Miraji Tak, Jurat-e-Afkar, Baazdeed Aur Tabserey, Qirat Aur Mukalema, Faiz Dehelvi, and Shaikh Mohammad Ibrahim Zauq. In addition, his novel Ankh Jo Sochti Hai and poetry collection Mazi Ka Aaina are also highly regarded.

Intellectual honesty, critical depth, and a simple yet effective style are the hallmarks of his writings, which have earned him a respected position in contemporary Urdu literature.
