شايد shāyad
P شايد shāyad [Pārsī shāyaṭ; 3rd pers. sing. aor. of shāyistan, rt. shāy; see shāyista], adv. It may be, perhaps, perchance, possibly, probably:—shāyad ki bāshad, It may be that it is, it may be so, perhaps it is.

A صياد ṣaiyād (intens. n. fr. صيد; see ṣaid), s.m. A sportsman, hunter, fowler, fisher; (poet.) one who captivates, a ravisher of hearts (syn. shikarī).
