Trial, affliction, calamity, mischief, evil, torment, plague, pest (applied to persons as well as things, e.g. yěh laṛkā bhī baṛā fitna haī);—temptation, seduction;—discord, conflict, cabal, faction, civil war, sedition, revolt, mutiny; perfidy; sin, crime:—fitna uṭhānā, v.n. To raise a revolt or sedition, &c.:—fitna-angez, or fitna-pardāz, adj. & s.m. Mischievous, seditious, turbulent, insurgent, &c.;—a mischief-maker, a fomenter of disturbances, a turbulent fellow, an incendiary, &c.:—fitna-angezī, s.f.
