To fight, quarrel, strive, contend, struggle; to make war, give battle; to cope or vie (with); to hit, strike (against), collide (with); to tally, agree, coincide (with,—as an account, &c.); to contend (with); to risk, stake (e.g. jān laṛ rahī hai); to subscribe, contribute (in opposition or rivalry);—fighting, quarrelling, &c.:—laṛnā-bhiṛnā, v.n. To engage and fight; to fight, quarrel, &c. (=laṛnā):—laṛ-paṛnā, v.n. To fall to fighting; to fall out:—laṛ-marnā, v.n. To die fighting; to engage in mortal strife:—laṛne-marne-wālā, s.m. (f. -wālī), A great fighter; one who engages in mortal combat; one who will fight to the death.
