Profile of Ahmad Kafeel
Ahmad Kafeel, Assistant Professor (Urdu), Department of Indian Languages, School of Languages & Literature, Central University of South Bihar, Gaya, has been honored by the West Bengal Urdu Academy with the prestigious "Khwaja Altaf Hussain Hali Award" for Urdu criticism for the year 2018.
The university’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Mudassir Alam, shared this news and mentioned that Dr. Ahmad Kafeel is a distinguished scholar of Urdu. He has been actively involved in teaching from his intermediate studies. After completing his post-graduation from Patna University, he pursued M.Phil. and Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
While living in Delhi, he worked as a Research Assistant in the editorial board of the journals "Urdu Duniya" and "Fikr-o-Tahqiq", published by the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL). He has also served as a guest faculty at the Department of Urdu, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, and taught undergraduate and postgraduate students at JNU’s Department of Urdu.
He has been honored with several awards and recognitions in seminars, symposiums, and Indian delegations. Over 100 of his articles, reviews, and translations have been published in various literary journals and magazines.
So far, he has published three books:
"Kulliyat-e-Hasan Naeem" (2006)
"Hasan Naeem aur Nai Ghazal" (2013), published by the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
"Harf Ke Ujale" (2018), published by Brown Book Publication, for which he received the prestigious award from the West Bengal Urdu Academy.
Ahmad Kafeel’s literary criticism is known for its clarity and decisiveness. He is also a renowned speaker recognized by literary circles. He has a strong command over Persian and classical literature. Although he is interested in all genres of literature, his primary fields of expertise are poetry criticism, Urdu linguistics, and the history of Urdu literature. He is often invited for special lectures on literature and politics and literature and society.
