Profile of Aleem Tahir
Identity: Poet, Writer and Fiction Author
Aleem Tahir (Sheikh Aleemuddin Abdul Rasheed) was born in Dharangaon, Jalgaon district of Maharashtra, India. Malegaon (Nashik district) is regarded as his second homeland and the principal center of his literary and creative activities.
His father, Arshad Minangari, is a noted poet and writer in Urdu, Hindi, and Marathi. Growing up in a literary environment, Aleem Tahir developed a deep interest in poetry and literature at an early age. His participation in literary gatherings and his literary training under his father played a significant role in shaping his poetic sensibility.
Academically, he holds Master's degrees in Urdu, History, and Education. He has also earned a B.Ed., a D.T.L., and a Diploma in Journalism. His Ph.D. research focuses on “New Genres of Literature” (Nai Asnaf-e-Sukhan).
Aleem Tahir's literary contributions span poetry, short stories, novels, criticism, research, essay writing, and children's literature. His writings reflect human relationships, love, social consciousness, empathy, and contemporary issues. He regards literature as an effective means of promoting human values, dialogue, and cultural harmony.
More than fifty of his books have been published. Among his notable works are Duniya Musafir Raste, Manzar Pas-e-Manzar, Shairi, Moseeqi Naghmagi, Aurat Kachche Kan Ki, Ek Chai Do Cigarette, Black Hole, Zehn Ka Manzarnama, Aleem Tahir Ke Paanch Novelette, Aleem Tahir Ke Chhe Novelette, Khwabon Ki Gari, Subah Nikalta Woh Sooraj, and Khamosh Cheekhein.
