kaise ākāsh meñ sūrāḳh nahīñ ho saktā
ek patthar to tabī.at se uchhālo yaaro
kaise aakash mein suraKH nahin ho sakta
ek patthar to tabiat se uchhaalo yaro
kahāñ to tai thā charāġhāñ har ek ghar ke liye
kahāñ charāġh mayassar nahīñ shahar ke liye
TRANSLATION
It was agreed that each and every house will glow,
For the whole city, there is not a single lamp though.
